Hair Loss

Hair loss has been a hot topic for quite some years now; from people trying to sell miraculous lotions (that are yours with fifteen payments of $29.99) to stories from grandmas that ask of you to mix strange ailments together under stranger conditions, people have always been fascinated by a way to grow back hair.

Hair grows and falls down, this has been a cycle that we all know and by now, are very well used to.  Even as tiny infants, we got our hair cut, and it always grew back at a non-aggravating speed of one centimeter per month (which could very well vary from person to person.)  In a more philosophical term, you could say that 10 percents of your hair is in a so-called “resting phase.”  After a said period of time (usually varies between two and three months,) the “resting” hair will fall and it will be replaced by new hair; it’s as simple as that.

Since the paragraph above describes that we do loose hair at a normal rate, it is a given that I will refer to “hair loss” as an excessive loss of hair.  The first one that will undoubtedly come to your mind is when someone goes bald from old age, yet this is not the only factor that will cause hair loss.

Baldness

The first one, the easiest and most common cause for hair loss (for men) is the baldness.  In most cases, if a man goes bald, it is not due to any medical diseases, but is simply a normal path in life.  This way of loosing hair is more prominent for the male, but it is also quite possible for women to go bald as well. (It is understandable that some men will accept being bald, while it is extremely rare that a woman will do the same instead of opting for a wig.)  Going bald this way is highly due to hereditary traits, yet it does not mean that if your father is not bald, that you will not loose hair; it just makes it less likely.

Medical Reasons
It is also quite common that several months after surgeries or grave illness that you will notice your hair falling down, but this is most likely due to the stress that you had to through.  It’s also good to mention that this is strictly temporary, and that you should not worry about it.  However, if you do not believe this is the case, you can also contact your doctor, but the chances are that you will get the same answer from him that you got from here.

Other diseases
Some diseases may also cause for hair loss as one of their nasty side effects.  Among the top perpetrators lies a fungal infection of the scalp as well hormonal problems.  Both can be cured using medicine; for fungal infections, simply look (or ask about) antifungal medicine to your doctor and for hormonal problems, ask your doctor about ways to cure the hormonal imbalance, which will then cure the side effects as well.

Can I stop hair loss?
It is possible to stop hair loss, but in case of balding, you may just be pushing the inevitable.  If you are living or have to take antibiotics, ask your doctor if your hair loss could be a side-effect of the said medicine.  Aside from that, you can always have a checkup and see if there you have any other infections that may cause hair loss.  If all is lost, investing in a wig may be your last good option.

Female hair loss condition can be very disturbing and unacceptable to some. Consult with the specialist on the different hair loss treatments available in the market and stop the thinning and excessive hair loss.
